Chipping Drill
Golf Drills can really improve your game. From the full golf swing to the smaller chipping and pitching shots.
In this instruction video you will learn two special chipping drills designed to create the proper weight transfer, setup and follow through for a more consistent and accurate chip shot.
The first chipping drill is called the “right foot back toe up drill” In this drill you first setup in a good chipping stance. Narrow open stance, weight slightly forward.
From here you bring your right foot back and up on your toe. You will feel your weight on your left side. This is where you want it for this type of short chip. The weight will stay on your left side throughout the swing creating a nice descending strike on the ball.
Another swing thought to keep in mind is that this shot is controlled with the upper body and the shoulders.
The second chipping tip is the “club on the ground drill”.
In this drill you lay a club on the ground about six inches behind your ball. Take your normal stance and swing without hitting the club on the back swing or on the forward swing.
This will teach you to have more of a descending blow and hopefully help eliminate those horrible little chunked shots where you hit the ground in front of the ball.
Nothing is more frustrating than hitting a beautiful drive or approach shot just off the green and then hitting the ground in front of your ball wasting a perfect opportunity for a birdie or a par.
